Works have recently commenced in the outskirts of Dundonald Village in Ayrshire with a new build dementia care building at the site of the existing Dundonald House Nursing Home. This will supplement the existing nursing home of 40 bedrooms with a further 40 ensuite bedrooms.
In addition to new bed spaces the new building will also provide two dining rooms, two lounge areas, an external terrace, new kitchen and laundry facilities, quiet/meeting rooms, a hairdressing salon, a café, resident’s private gardens and a communal courtyard garden. In addition, the new building’s environmental credentials will be reinforced by the use of ground source heat pumps to provide the building with it’s hot water and heating. Further proposals may include use of solar panels and heat recovery to supplement the GSHP.
The existing nursing home is operated and run to the highest standards and quality of care. This is reflected in the nursing home recently receiving the highest award by the Care Commission (a six). In advance of the works, during the design process, extensive consultations were held with Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling to ensure the completed building meets the design standards and requirements of elderly and dementia care.
CRGP Limited is delighted with their appointment for the new build as Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, CDM co-ordinators and has provided Building Surveying support for the existing building.
Handover of the completed building is anticipated during August 2011 after a twelve month build programme.
